I Said I Was Smart, I Never Said I Had Everything Sorted Out

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

I can't help but wonder...

Is being on top of things a matter of intelligence, or something deeper, like a matter of consciousness?

After much introspection, I've come to the conclusion that it's a little bit of both. Allow me to explain...

First off, let's talk intelligence. Just because you're smart doesn't mean you have all the answers or that you're immune to life's curveballs. In fact, sometimes being intelligent can work against you, as you're constantly analyzing and overthinking every little thing.

But I also believe that having a high level of consciousness is just as important as intelligence. Consciousness, in this context, refers to your awareness of yourself and your surroundings. It's the ability to step back and observe your thoughts and behaviours without judgment. Think of it this way: intelligence is like having a powerful computer, but consciousness is like having the right software to run on that computer. You need both to function at your best.

Intelligence and having one's life in order are two separate things. Is it possible to be intelligent and successful, yet still struggle with personal challenges and setbacks? The truth is, life is messy and complicated, and even the most intelligent and accomplished individuals can face personal challenges that they struggle to overcome. It's important to remember that intelligence is just one aspect of who we are as individuals, and it doesn't guarantee that we will have everything figured out. Moreover, the pressure to have everything together can be overwhelming and counterproductive. Instead of striving for perfection, it's more helpful to focus on personal growth and self-improvement. This means acknowledging our flaws and limitations, and working to improve ourselves and our circumstances in meaningful ways. On the other hand, consciousness refers to our level of awareness and understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Someone with high consciousness is able to recognize their own thoughts and feelings, take responsibility for their actions, and make conscious choices that align with their values and goals. So, while intelligence can certainly be an asset, it's not the only factor that determines whether someone has their affairs in order. Consciousness plays a crucial role in our ability to navigate life's challenges and make meaningful choices that lead to fulfillment and success. It's not about being the smartest or most accomplished person in the room. It's about having the self-awareness and emotional intelligence to live a fulfilling and authentic life.
