One Night Stand Or One Life Stand?

Updated: Apr 17, 2023

Are you looking for a love story or a life story?

Falling in love or growing in love?

It got me thinking...

The one-night stand... It's the classic tale of two people who meet, have a wild night together, and then go their separate ways. Maybe you were feeling lonely, maybe you were just feeling a little adventurous, or maybe you needed validation. Whatever the reason, you found yourself in a situation where you had a fleeting connection with someone, and then it was over. It's exciting, it's spontaneous, it's like a sugar rush - it's exhilarating in the moment, but it doesn't last. But is it fulfilling? Is it something that you can build a life around? Probably not.

The one-life stand... This is the person who you can see yourself building a life with. This is the person who you want to grow old with, the person who you want to share your hopes and dreams with. It's not always easy, and it's not always exciting, but it's REAL. It's the kind of love that lasts a lifetime.

So, which one should you choose?

I invite us to reflect on the type of relationship we are seeking. I think that a successful and fulfilling relationship is more than just a romantic love story, and that it should involve shared experiences and a deep connection that goes beyond just physical attraction.

When we focus solely on the idea of a love story, we may become fixated on the idea of finding the perfect partner and experiencing intense romantic feelings. This can lead us to overlook important qualities and shared values in a potential partner and may lead to disappointment when the initial spark fades.

On the other hand, when we focus on creating a life story with someone, we prioritize shared experiences, values, and goals. We look for a partner who complements and supports us in our personal growth and who is committed to building a life together that is meaningful and fulfilling.

Creating a life story with a partner can involve a variety of shared experiences, such as traveling, trying new hobbies, and pursuing mutual interests. It can also involve building a foundation of trust, communication, and shared values that supports us through the ups and downs of life.

By prioritizing shared experiences, values, and goals, we can create a fulfilling and meaningful life story with a partner that goes beyond just a romantic love story.

In the end, it's not about whether you fall in love or grow in love, it's about finding that one person who makes your life better, who makes you wanna be a better person. If you're lucky enough to find that one person who makes your heart sing, and makes you laugh, hold on tight and never let go.

Love is worth the wait.
