The Master Of Self Is The Master Of All

Updated: Jun 14, 2023

Your heart is for finding direction, your mind is for navigating it.

Sit with SELF.

It got me thinking...

I can't help but wonder - how many of us are truly in tune with ourselves?

We live in a world where we're constantly bombarded with external stimuli. From the notifications on our phones to the never-ending to-do lists, it's easy to get lost in the chaos and forget about the most important relationship of all - the one with ourselves.

But the truth is, the master of self is the master of all. When we're in tune with ourselves, we can navigate any situation with ease and grace. We can make decisions that align with our values and goals, and we can create a life that is truly fulfilling.

At its core, the phrase means that when you have control over your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, you have the power to influence the world around you. Self-mastery allows you to respond to situations from a place of clarity and understanding, rather than reacting impulsively or being controlled by external factors. When you are the master of yourself, you have the ability to create positive change in your life and the lives of those around you. Self-mastery involves several key elements, including self-awareness, self-discipline, and self-compassion.

Self-awareness means that you have a deep understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. You are aware of your strengths and weaknesses, your triggers, and your values. Self-discipline involves the ability to control your impulses and make choices that align with your values and goals.

Self-compassion means that you treat yourself with kindness and understanding, even when you make mistakes or face challenges. The benefits of self-mastery are numerous. When you are the master of yourself, you are more resilient and adaptable in the face of challenges. You are less likely to be swayed by external factors or negative influences, and more likely to make choices that align with your values and goals. You are also more likely to experience positive emotions like happiness and fulfillment, as you are living a life that is true to who you are. So, how do we become the master of self?

It starts with sitting with SELF -

S - Stillness. Take time to be still and quiet, free from distractions and external stimuli.

E - Exploration. Explore your inner world through journaling, meditation, or other self-reflection practices.

L - Listening. Listen to your inner voice and intuition, rather than the opinions and expectations of others.

F - Feeling. Allow yourself to feel all of your emotions, even the uncomfortable ones. Emotions are messengers, and they can provide valuable insight into our inner state of being.

When we sit with SELF, we create space for a deeper connection with ourselves. We can tap into our inner wisdom and guidance, and we can make decisions that are aligned with our true selves.

So, the next time you feel lost or uncertain, take a moment to sit with SELF.

Remember, your heart is for finding direction, and your mind is for navigating it. When you're in tune with yourself, you can navigate any situation with ease and grace.

Self-mastery is a lifelong journey, and be kind and patient with yourself as you navigate the ups and downs of this journey.
